Georgia Fugees Academy Charter School (GFACS) is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades 6–12 from refugee, immigrant, and multilingual backgrounds. About the Opportunity

GFACS is seeking a committed and student-centered Part-Time Head Soccer Coach to lead our soccer fundamentals program and help build the foundation for its future growth.

During the 2026–27 school year, the program will focus on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, sportsmanship, safe play, and student accountability. GFACS will not participate in games, scrimmages, tournaments, or team travel during this initial year. Competitive play is anticipated for the 2027–28 school year, at which time the role may expand to include games, tournaments, evening or weekend activities, and approved travel.

This is an excellent opportunity for a coach who enjoys developing young athletes, building programs, and using soccer to create belonging, confidence, leadership, and community.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and lead an organized, age-appropriate soccer fundamentals curriculum.
• Teach ball control, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, defending, positioning, conditioning, teamwork, and the basic rules of soccer.
• Plan structured instructional sessions with clear objectives, skill progressions, warmups, hydration breaks, modifications, and cooldowns.
• Assess student development and provide constructive, encouraging, and age-appropriate feedback.
• Create a safe, positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive team environment.
• Establish and reinforce expectations for attendance, behavior, academic responsibility, sportsmanship, equipment care, and respectful communication.
• Maintain accurate rosters, attendance records, skill-development notes, equipment records, and other required documentation.
• Communicate student needs, injuries, incidents, schedule changes, and program concerns promptly through approved school channels.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to assigned assistant coaches, community coaches, volunteers, or other program support personnel.
• Develop systems and student readiness to support GFACS’s anticipated transition to competitive soccer.
• Inspect playing areas and equipment, follow emergency and student-release procedures, and respond appropriately to injuries or unsafe conditions.
• Perform assigned student-support or school-operational duties during scheduled non-coaching hours. These duties may include student supervision, study hall, tutoring or academic support, classroom assistance, transition or dismissal coverage, attendance support, and equipment organization.

Soccer instruction is currently expected to occur from approximately 2:40 p.m.–4:00 p.m., with assigned school-support responsibilities occurring during the earlier portion of the scheduled workday.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge of soccer fundamentals.
• Experience playing, coaching, or instructing soccer in a school, club, recreation, or comparable setting.
• Ability to plan and deliver organized, developmentally appropriate instruction.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Sound judgment and the ability to supervise adolescents in classroom and athletic settings.
• Reliable attendance and availability to work Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background checks, fingerprinting, employment screenings, and student-contact clearances.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification—or the ability to obtain these certifications by the deadline established by GFACS.
• Willingness to complete required training related to student safety, mandated reporting, concussion response, heat-illness prevention, emergency procedures, and professional boundaries.
• Ability to meet any applicable GFACS, Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Professional Standards Commission, or athletic-association requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience coaching middle or high school students.
• United States Soccer Federation, United Soccer Coaches, or comparable coaching credential.
• Experience supporting multilingual learners or students from refugee, immigrant, or culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Experience building or expanding a youth athletic program.

Physical Requirements

The Head Coach must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Responsibilities regularly require standing and walking for extended periods, demonstrating soccer movements, moving across grass, turf, gym floors, and uneven outdoor surfaces, projecting the voice, observing student activity at a distance, and responding promptly to emergencies. The position also requires the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 pounds and to work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly compensation of $35.
• Five days of paid time off and GFACS-designated paid holidays, administered in accordance with GFACS policies.
• This part-time position does not include employer-sponsored health benefits.
• All work time, including required planning, meetings, school-support duties, instruction, documentation, and work communications, must be accurately recorded.
• Any additional hours must be approved in advance.
